AN INJURED walker has been rescued after slipping and falling on a remote hillside on the Herefordshire border.

Longtown Mountain Rescue Team said it was called to the Sugar Loaf, between Hereford and Abergavenny, where a "well-prepared" family had climbed the hill.

But on the way down from the summit, a woman slipped and injured her lower leg, the team, based in Abergavenny, said.

Due to the high winds and low temperature, the team of volunteers said it was concerned about the group being still for any length of time.
