A VILLAGE in Herefordshire is facing three months of road closures as faster broadband is rolled out to houses.

Herefordshire Council said as part of its Fastershire project, which is seeing faster fibre internet cables laid across the county, roads would need to close in Cradley, near Ledbury.

The first closure will be on the B4220 at Stoney Cross, which will be shut for four days from January 24.

OTHER NEWS:

That is followed by a second closure on the B4220 for 11 days from January 26.

Chapel Lane will then shut for 24 days on March 11, and a 33-day closure of Finchers Corner.

The diversion routes for each closure would be signposted locally, Herefordshire Council said in a public notice.

OTHER NEWS:

“The said closures are required due to rural fibre installation works and the likelihood of danger to the public while the works are taking place.”

With download speeds of 1 Gbps, full fibre broadband can be up to 10 times faster than the average home broadband connection and is also less affected by peak time congestion.
