Mums of transgender children fight for LGBTQIA+ in Herefordshire

Rachel Quinn, 43, and Ali Wells, 57, are starting up an educational business next week called Rally Training after they were inspired by their children and Hereford Pride.

Both mothers to transgender children, the pair got involved with the pride event at The Courtyard in October and were asked to speak on a panel.

This is where they recognised a need for educational services and began to work with the Hereford Pride organisers.

"We thought, we need to do something about this," said Ms Quinn.

Both are professionally trained and have a deep insight into the educational needs surrounding the LGBTQIA+ community.

Businesses can book them to provide educational training on gender identity and diversity in the workplace.

"We are already so busy," she said.

They will also hold support groups and one to one sessions, which will provide a safe space for young people (16+) already aware of their sexuality and for those still exploring.

The pair will work with businesses to educate on gender identity and diversity in the workplace.

Support groups for parents of children in the LGBTQIA+ community will also be running.

They plan to work with high schools and provide workshops in gender identity and general education about the community.

A person can refer themselves to their support groups or be referred by someone else.

Parent support groups meet at the Living Room on the second Tuesday of every month 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Due to safeguarding they cannot advertise when and where the youth support groups will take place.
