A "MOST impressive" country home in Herefordshire, which used to be a hotel and has 11 en suite bedrooms, is for sale for £1.65 million.
Pencraig Court, near Ross-on-Wye, is described by agents Fine and Country as an 18th century Grade II-Listed country home, nestled in the hamlet just off the A40 between the charming market towns of Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth.
From its elevated position, agents said on Zoopla that the house commands stunning views across the river Wye and surrounding countryside.
Pencraig Court was formerly a hotel, restaurant, wedding venue and even used as a school during the war and is currently a family home offering "substantial proportions".
The entrance porch has two pairs of fluted columns and leads through to a "most welcoming" 35ft reception hall, which features an open well staircase with cast-iron balustrades and mahogany hand rail.
Leading off the hallway are the "fine" receptions rooms, with 11ft 6in high ceilings and sash windows.
The dining room found at the front has a cast iron fireplace with tiled inserts and marble surround and opens, courtesy of a large archway, into a second dining area making it perfect for entertaining.
"Both of these interconnecting rooms have decorative coved ceilings and enjoy the fine views from the large bay window," agents said.
The large 26ft drawing room also has the fine views, as well as glazed panel doors opening out on to the rear terrace.
There is a cast-iron range to add a "cosy feel" and the ceiling is once more finished with decorative coving.
"The morning room at the rear overlooks the terrace and is used more as a quiet space, perhaps the place to enjoy a book sat in front of the open fire," Fine and Country said.
Off the hallway there are two cloakrooms, while the study/home office at the front of the house is in what used to be the hotel reception.
A service corridor off the main hallway leads to the breakfast kitchen with recently fitted modern base and wall units and stainless steel six-burner range.
Beyond this is a walk-in pantry/freezer room, the laundry room and further storage room.
The bedrooms are on the first and second floors, all of which feature en suite facilities and several of which have "fine views".
Next to the main house is the cottage annexe accommodation providing an 18ft sitting room, kitchen, three bedrooms and a bathroom. Currently used for seasonal Airbnb with "high occupancy".
Its driveway has wrought iron gates and gardens covering 3.59 acres, including a flagstone terrace, greenhouse, stables, tack room, timber hay barn and woodland.
