- Experienced Bulls defender Krystian Pearce made a vital block in the first Blyth move of the evening with the centre-half denying Lewis Mcnall's effort.
- The Bulls were denied a clear chance on 18 minutes with Ryan McLean driving at the defence referee Sam Mulhall stopped play for an apparent head injury on Lewis Mcnall and the opportunity was gone.
- Referee Mulhall was the centre of attention again moments later as Ryan McLean ran into the box before claiming his effort was blocked by a handball.
- Blyth also looked dangerous in spells and talisman Robert Dale almost found the opener, but his effort was blocked by Ben Pollock.
- Ryan McLean opened the scoring on 34 minutes when a corner came out to the winger whose shot was deflected over the goalkeeper and into the net.
- Blyth almost had an instant response when Nicky Deverdics saw his well-hit shot saved down low by Hall.
- Dan Smith should have doubled the Bulls lead four minutes before the break when Ryan Lloyd found the forward unmarked at the back post, but his header was wide.
- McLean was having a game to remember and after the break was released by Owen-Evans before seeing his effort across the goalkeeper blocked by the last defender.
- Owen-Evans almost doubled Hereford's lead on 54 minutes after a looping Jared Hodgkiss cross found the midfielder who headed just over.
- Pearce was next to go close as an Owen-Evans corner fell for the Bulls defender who rifled over.
- The Bulls went even close on 70 minutes when a long Luke Haines throw-in into a crowd of bodies was headed onto the crossbar before a penalty shout was dismissed for a handball as Dale cleared.
- Five minutes later the Bulls were two goals ahead with Ryan Lloyd finding the run of Dan Smith who had beaten the off-side trap and rifled home.
- Moments later substitute Zeli Ismail rattled the crossbar with a speculative effort from outside the box which had the goalkeeper beaten.
- Blyth were limited to very few second half chances but Lewis Mcnall did find space before seeing his shot deflected wide.
- Referee Mulhall denied substitute Victor Sodeinde a glaring chance blowing for a foul on Owen-Evans when the striker was in on goal.
- From the resulting free-kick Ismail forced a fine save.
