A COMMUNITY shop in Herefordshire has been named as the best in the Midlands in prestigious industry awards.
Yarpole Community Shop, near Leominster, won the Best Village Shop and Post Office for the Midlands category at the national Countryside Alliance Awards 2021.
The award, dubbed the ‘Rural Oscars’, recognises and celebrates the outstanding businesses and unsung heroes that go the extra mile to keep rural communities and economies ticking.
The judges thought that “Yarpole Community Shop and Post Office is a wonderful community enterprise”.
They said it was friendly, efficient and a great asset to the community, and was much more than just a shop.
It’s not the first time the shop, which sells local products and has an adjoining café, has celebrated an award win, having been crowned national winner of the Countryside Alliance Best Village Shop and Post Office in 2010.
