LEDBURY will have the largest cider and fruit milling plant in western Europe under new plans from the company behind Bulmers cider.
Scottish & Newcastle have joined forces with another company, Q Group, to launch Universal Beverages Ltd and are promising new employment opportunities in the town.
"It represents an unprecedented level of investment for this area of Herefordshire and is fantastic news for Ledbury" said Universal managing director David Hepworth.
The joint venture plans to complete work on a half million hectolitre cider making facility and a milling plant handling 15,000 tonnes of fruit a week at Orchard Park and at the Premier Food site this year.
The new plant will be introduced in three phases and will also include additional fermentation, storage and packing facilities to work alongside the existing Bulmers site in Hereford.
