Teamwork is the watchword in several categories in this year’s Hereford Times Health and Social Care Awards.

From teams at GP practices, teams of domiciliary carers, and employers who understand the value of their staff, the support offered to their patients and service users, and to each other, is cause for celebration.

And not every team is obvious to the onlooker, as Andrew Hedges, pharmacy technical services manager at Wye Valley NHS Trust explained.

“The department is largely invisible to the public, but they ensured the sickest and most at risk continued to get the medication that was needed throughout the pandemic,” he said.

At Leominster-based Mortimer Home Care “teamwork is key and the outcomes are great, simply because we all work together and liaise with each other,” said one of many nominations. “As a result, we achieve more and we are able to supply clients and their families with the right tools and information.”

At Kington Medical Practice, the team worked to set up an amber hub, which served the whole of the north west of the county for patients to be seen face to face in a safe environment.

The Rotherwood Healthcare Group, shortlisted for Care Employer of the Year, recognises the value of its staff: “Our people are integral to the running and development of our business.” they say. “They provide care to our residents, and we work to ensure everyone understands how they contribute, ensuring there’s a meaningful connection between our people and our business.

At city centre GP practice Cantilupe Surgery “the friendly, positive, and professional attitude presented by all members of the team inspire a great deal of confidence in all their patients. The entire team works incredibly hard to provide the highest level of patient care.”
