The award was granted to SafeLane in 2020 for outstanding short-term growth in overseas sales over the last three years. The pandemic had put the presentation of the award on hold until now.

Taking receipt of the Queen’s Award, Rob Hunter thanked the Lord-Lieutenant before paying tribute to his colleagues.

He said: “This achievement is directly attributable to the professionalism displayed by every single member of the extended SafeLane family every day.

"We could not have achieved our outstanding growth or advanced our reputation without you – you should all be proud of this achievement.”

Chief executive officer Adam Ainsworth said everyone was hugely surprised by the win.

He said: "We have been impressed at how widely understood and acknowledged the Queen’s Award logo is around the world.

"The people that make our company so great are proud to shout about this achievement."
