VOLUNTEERS were in for a surprise when they took to the streets of a Herefordshire town to clean up ahead of an annual festival.
Over 20 volunteers spent part of their Sunday morning with brooms, brushes and litter picking equipment cleaning up the town ready for the Kington Walking Festival, with over 25 bags of mostly green waste collected during the clean up organised by the town's Chamber of Trade.
Kington Chamber of Trade chairman Emma Hancocks said: "A massive thanks to all of those volunteers who turned up and helped with the community litter pick. Today was organised to spruce our community up ready to welcome visitors for the walking festival next weekend.
"It was a great surprise that the majority of stuff collected was green waste so thank you to everyone for keeping our town clean and tidy."
This year's walking festival starts on Thursday September 16. Further details please visit the website https://kingtonwalks.org/
