FIREFIGHTERS from across Herefordshire are among those battling a major blaze over the border in Kidderminster.

Crews from stations across the county were among the 100 firefighters tackling the fire in two large industrial units in Park Street yesterday.

A fire service spokesperson said the call came in at 2.51pm on September 8 and crews from Wyre Forest, Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Worcester, Pershore, Redditch, Malvern, Leominster (water carrier), Tenbury Wells, Ross-on-Wye were sent to the scene.

A crew from Leintwardine was also among those sent to the scene overnight.

Around 20 fire appliances and around 100 firefighters were on-scene last night as well as multi-agency partners from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Midlands Fire Service, West Midlands Ambulance Service and West Mercia Police.

The fire is in two large industrial units and there are several seats of fire.

Residents were evacuated overnight and asked to stay away overnight with friends or relatives if possible or at a rest centre at Wyre Forest House.
