THREE people from the Herefordshire area have been charged by Merseyside police following Hereford United's FA Cup match with Tranmere Rovers.

Seventeen supporters were arrested before, during and after Saturday's third round tie, but police have today (Thursday) confirmed that three men have been charged.

Two were charged with being drunk and entering a football stadium. Another man was charged with the same offence and was also charged with section 39 assault.

Merseyside Police said three fixed penalty notices were issued to fans being drunk and disorderly and seven others were cautioned for drink offences.

Three other people who were arrested were ejected from the stadium and no further action was taken.

One man from the Merseyside area was charged with breaching a banning order issued by Liverpool Crown Court.
