FIREFIGHTERS have been called to a blaze in a field near Hereford.

Wellington Lane, between Wellington and the A4110, was closed as firefighters tackled the blaze on Tuesday evening.

Police officers warned drivers to avoid the area, with fire crews from four stations in attendance.

Leominster fire station said its water carrier was at the scene, alongside colleagues from Hereford, Fownhope and Kingsland.

The stubble fire was brought under control by crews using hosereel jets and beaters, the station said.

Pictures show firefighters at the scene after being called shortly before 5pm on Tuesday.

After warning drivers to avoid the area, West Mercia Police officers thanked the public for the patience.
