A HEREFORD man charged with attempted murder has appeared in crown court for the first time.

Speaking only to confirm his name during the 10-minute hearing, Andrew John Charles Thompson, 52, was told by Judge Martin Jackson that he faces a trial in February 2022.

Thompson was arrested by police after an incident at Dartmouth Court in Whittern Way, Hereford, at around 2am on Tuesday, July 27.

It was alleged Thompson, of Dartmouth Court, stabbed the victim in the neck and stomach, but during the plea and trial preparation hearing at Worcester Crown Court on Thursday (August 26), he did not enter a plea.

His barrister Mark Thompson said psychological and toxicology reports were needed, and the hearing was adjourned until November 18 when he should be arraigned and enter pleas.

Wearing a sweatshirt and appearing via video link from prison, he was remanded into custody until the next court date.

Thompson faces one charge of attempted murder and one of wounding with intent.
