Hundreds of fundraisers brought a splash of colour to Hereford by running a five-kilometre course through the city while covered in paint.

The 600 runners, of all ages and abilities, descended on the King George V Playing Fields to take part in Paint Runner last Saturday.

The course took them across the Old Bridge, past the Cathedral and through the Castle Green, before returning to the playing fields.

Along the way they negotiated five paint stations, leaving them part covered in a kaleidoscope of colour.

Runners were put in the mood thanks to music by DJ Roddy Hankins and warm-up dance routines from The Starlight Company.

OTHER NEWS:

The annual event was postponed because of Covid-19 restrictions last year. Its return is expected to raise several thousands of pounds for Bartestree-based St Michael’s Hospice.

Matt Ashcroft, events and community fundraising manager said: “We hope everyone enjoyed the return of Paint Runner as much as we did.

“To the hundreds of you who helped brighten an otherwise dull Saturday morning, thank you so much.”

OTHER NEWS:

He also thanked the many volunteers who gave up their time marshalling, throwing paint or registering runners.

“Without them, the event just couldn’t have taken place," he added.
