SUPERSTAR Ralph Fiennes has been spotted greeting fans in Malvern.

The 58-year-old actor is currently directing and starring in the world premiere adaptation of TS Eliot’s Four Quartets poem at the Malvern Theatres.

Mr Fiennes is best known for his roles as evil Lord Voldemort in the series of films about Harry Potter, the boy wizard.

He took over as 'M', the head of MI6 at the end of the James Bond movie Skyfall.

He also won plaudits as the star of the English Patient, and as a sadistic Nazi in Schindler's List.

More recently he appeared with Carey Mulligan in The Dig, about the discovery of the Sutton Hoo Anglo-Saxon treasure.

He was spotted in Malvern by Ivan Long, who said: "It's great to have a top actor performing a top piece of poetry!"

Mr Fiennes had just finished his performance and after posing for some selfies and signing autographs strode back to his hotel.

He was also reportedly seen working out at the gym in the town's Splash leisure centre.

The Malvern Theatres – which is popular with threatre-goes from Herefordshire – describes Four Quartets as "compelling, moving and symphonic, Four Quartets offer four interwoven meditations on the nature of time, faith, and the quest for spiritual enlightenment.

"Mostly written during World War II when the closure of playhouses during the Blitz interrupted Eliot’s work in theatre, the four parts (Burnt Norton, East Coker, The Dry Salvages and Little Gidding) were the culminating achievement of Eliot’s Nobel Prize winning literary career.
