ALL Hereford County Hospital wards have been closed to visitors to halt the spread of a stomach bug.
Four wards have been closed to admissions by the Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust.
The trust is attempting to minimise the spread of the vomiting bug, norovirus.
Sue Lahiss, senior manager, said the ban was a precaution, and the situation is being reviewed on a day-to-day basis.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) reports that 70 UK hospital wards are closed because of the virus.
It is short-lived, and not deadly, but symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and muscle pain.
Meanwhile, patients are being handed free telephone cards to contact their families.
Special visiting arrangements are available to parents of children in the hospital, relatives of terminally-ill patients, and expectant parents.
Such arrangements can be made by contacting the ward nurse, through the hospital switchboard.
