A ROSS-ON-WYE charity is to fold due to a lack of support, six years after it set out to improve art and music facilities for youngsters in the town.

Herefordshire Council is now negotiating the future of the Ross Creative Learning Centre to ensure thousands of pounds worth of recording and computer equipment have not been installed in vain.

The Ross Creative Learning Centre Trust raised £200,000 to provide ICT, drama and music studio facilities at the Y-Zone centre on Hill Street but struggled to recruit community trustees to replace some who had recently retired and said it received a poor response to its summer programme of events.

Herefordshire Council will continue to run the centre with the youth service and Basement Youth Trust for regular activities, but says without a voluntary partner to secure funding, any additional programmes will be reduced.

It is also discussing the possibility of Hereford's Courtyard Theatre taking over elements such as break-dancing and circus skills.
