NATIONAL Grid worker Paul Jones has been recognised in the New Year Honours for his efforts during the summer's devastating floods.
Mr Jones, who is 42 and from Tupsley, Hereford, spent almost two days in Ludlow in late June making sure the area was safe after a deluge saw the Shropshire town's Burway Bridge get washed away.
He co-ordinated a team of gas engineers, police officers and firefighters and made the main safe in a mammoth two day operation.
He has been made an MBE for his services to flood rescue.
