A CARETAKER who has worked at Hereford's Aldi supermarket for 20 years has been thanked for his long service.

The budget supermarket said Matthew Jessop, who has worked in the Eign Street store since 2001, would be a familiar face to shoppers.

Aldi said caretaker Mr Jessop had kept the shop in "top condition" over the years and was known as a "real team player" by his colleagues.

Speaking about his work anniversary this month, Mr Jessop said: “I never thought I’d work at the same Aldi store for 20 years, but I’ve loved it so much that I now couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.

"I really do enjoy the work I do and the job has helped me build lifelong friendships with some amazing colleagues.”

Dan Oakenfull, regional managing director at Aldi UK said: “Without the hard work and dedication of our store colleagues we wouldn’t be able to provide customers with the unbeatable prices Aldi is known for.

“Colleagues like Matthew are the cornerstone of our business and I thank him for his continued dedication throughout the last 20 years.

"Hopefully we work together for many more years to come.”
