A FOOTBALL fan from Herefordshire was in for a surprise when his meal delivery came with a special added extra.

When Wiltshire Farm Foods told Hereford-based customer of five years, Brian Nugent, he’d be receiving something in addition to his usual delivery, he wasn’t sure what to expect.

Knowing that Brian had long been a Swansea A.F.C fan, the ready meal delivery company arranged a personalised video message from club ambassador and footballing legend, Lee Trundle, to lift his spirits in lockdown.

Brian, 81, was delighted with the surprise from his driver, Peter.

“I’ve been a Swans fan since 1956 and was very touched by the video that Wiltshire Farm Foods arranged for me," he said.

"They also gave me another scarf to add to my collection, as well as some £30 vouchers so I’m all set for my meals for a while!”

In the video, Lee wished Brian well and thanked him for all his support over the years. He also encouraged Brian to keep safe and looked forward to welcoming him back to the Liberty Stadium soon.

Knowing that Brian was a bit short on freezer space, the company also gifted him with a tabletop freezer, so he wouldn’t have to worry about storage for the frozen meals.

Getting creative with surprises for its customers has been something of a mission for Wiltshire Farm Foods in recent months. As part of it ‘Bringing Sunshine’ campaign, the company sent out postcards alongside deliveries to a selection of customers inviting them to share experiences which would bring them sunshine.

Anna Trumper, manager at the Monmouth branch, said: “This most recent lockdown has been tough for everyone across the country, but especially for our customers, as many of them have had to shield from friends and loved ones. We wanted to put smiles on their faces and lift their spirits, so it was a pleasure to arrange something Swansea F.C related for Brian, given he’s a life-long fan.”

Now that fans are allowed back into stadiums again, Wiltshire Farm Foods is hoping to arrange another Swans related experience for Brian and his friend – two tickets to their next home match at the Liberty Stadium.
