TRIBUTES have been paid to a trustee of the Museum of Cider in Hereford who has died.

The museum has paid tribute to Gillian Bulmer who they described as “dedicated to the museum”.

In a tribute on Facebook the Museum of Cider based in Pomona Place said: “It with sadness and affection that we have to say that our trustee Gillian Bulmer has died (1935-2021), but peacefully.

“She was dedicated to the museum and heritage orchards and quite simply without her the museum would not be the place it is today.

“She was hugely knowledgeable, very supportive and has left an important legacy for future cider makers and historians with the Pippin Orchards and the collections she sourced for the museum. She will be much missed.”

Personal tributes have also been paid to the Museum of Cider Facebook page, one said: “Sending my condolences to Gillian's family and friends.

“Gillian always enjoyed sharing her knowledge with museum staff, volunteers and visitors. She gave her time freely and I remember a number of occasions closing the museum late to allow for discussions with visitors to finalise.

“Gillian will be missed but her legacy will live on.”

The Museum of Cider was set up as a trust in the 1970s and is housed in a former cider-making factory.

The museum is currently closed while repair work takes place to repairs after a significant water leak in June 2020.
