A WOMAN was caught with cannabis after police were called to a popular cycle route through Hereford.

Laura Michelle Quinsy admitted possessing a class B drug when she appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

Police had stopped and searched Quinsy at the Canary Bridge in Hereford at 6pm on March 30, prosecutor Shafquat Reaz said.

They found the 44-year-old was carrying a small amount of cannabis, which she said was for personal use.

Marilena Di Vitantonio, for Quinsy, said police had attended the area in relation to a different matter.

"She volunteered that she had cannabis in her bag and was arrested and taken into custody," Miss Di Vitantonio said.

"She admitted in interview that it was for personal use."

Quinsy, of Westbury Close, Hereford, was fined £80 and must pay costs of £85 and a £34 victim surcharge. The cannabis was ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
