EVEN with the uncertainty facing the housing market in light of the coronavirus, there is a huge gulf in the prices of houses between Herefordshire and London.
The cost of owning a home, or even a flat, has rocketed over the last two decades as London is often considered as one of the most popular places to live in the world.
If you can afford it, the lifestyle London offers can be a compelling attraction. The pace of life is a lot faster than in Herefordshire, just one of the lifestyle differences.
Increasing demand has pushed up prices in the capital and the difference in what you can get with your money outside of London can be staggering.
We've searched Zoopla for the average value in London, which is £644,631, and this is how what you buy in each area with that amount:
The current average value of a house in Herefordshire is £286,484, significantly less than the capital.
But what can you get for the average London value in Herefordshire?
For £650,000 in Hereford, you can pick up a six-bedroomed detached house in Hampton Park Road.
It has an outdoor heated swimming pool, large garden and a self-contained annexe with two bedrooms.
Agents Flint and Cook describe it as "exceptional" and in a prime residential location.
On the ground floor there is the annexe kitchen, store room, utility, conservatory, garage, family room, toilet, lounge and a kitchen/dining room.
Upstairs there are six bedrooms, with one possibly used as the lounge for the annexe, and two bathrooms.
The master bedroom has an en-suite, and there is a conservatory.

But as for London, if you have £644,631 to spend, you can get this studio flat.
On top of the hefty price tag for the pad, in Whitechapel, you will also have to pay £500 ground rent a year, as well as a service charge of £4.50 per square foot.
You do, however, get access to a pool, spa, gym, cinema and comminal roof and gardens.
