CHILDREN in rural Herefordshire will not have to face the school dinners of old, because teachers have teamed up with the local pub.
There should be no tapioca, lumpy mashed potato or lumpy custard in sight at Michaelchurch Escley Primary School in the Golden Valley.
The village’s Bridge Inn is the school’s new supplier of lunches, and since March 8 chefs have cooked up more than 40 meals a day.
School administrator Mark Hollowood said: “It is fantastic to be working with a local business who are literally just along the road from us, and to top it off the meals they are providing are fantastic.”
Deputy headteacher Gary Crocker said the pub was chosen as a supplier as the school is “really remote” and does not have its own kitchen.
