A HEREFORD business owner and football fan died suddenly outside his work of coronavirus, an inquest was told.

Scott McMenamin, aged 56, from Bryngwyn Close in Hereford was a plumber and central heating engineer and owner of Scott and Sons Ltd.

He was also a keen Hereford football fan following Hereford United and Hereford FC.

An inquest held at Hereford Town Hall on Wednesday heard that in the days before his death Mr McMenamin had called 111 after being short of breath and was prescribed some antibiotics for a chest infection.

On April 9, at his place of work on Church Ward Trading Estate in Hereford, Mr McMenamin was described as 'looking unwell' and a colleague had offered to take him home.

However, Mr McMenamin decided to drive and the inquest heard that he travelled 20 yards before getting out of his vehicle and collapsing.

Emergency services were called but Mr McMenamin did not respond to treatment.

A post-mortem examination was carried out and found that Mr McMenamin had died from Covid-19 pneumonitis.

His wife told police officers that he was 'fit and well'.

Herefordshire assistant coroner Roland Wooderson recorded a conclusion of death by natural causes.
