A review has been ordered after complaints that disabled people are unable to cross a Rubery road.

Councillor Peter McDonald has questioned why there are no dropped kerbs for people in mobility scooters to allow them to cross Whetty lane and the slip road to the A38.

“With more and more people now getting around using mobility scooters the County Council need to think of the les sable in all it does regarding the highways,” he said.

“It’s time the council carried out an audit of just how many junctions have not got dropped kerbs. It would seem unless you are using a wheelchair or mobility scooter you are not aware of the obstacles the less able are having to face.”

“I have asked the County Council to ensure that there are dropped kerbs both sides of the slip road.”

A spokesperson for Worcestershire County Council said: “We are aware of Councillor Macdonald’s concerns. We will arrange for the Transport Infrastructure Commissioning team to undertake a site visit and to assess the current situation, and what can be arranged to resolve the issues.

“We take all reports of access issues on our highway, roads and pavements for people with disabilities extremely seriously and would always encourage any access issues to be reported to us.”
