THREE cows have drowned in Herefordshire after they were chased into a brook.
A police spokesperson said they were called after an unknown number of dogs strayed into a field of cattle in Lower Bullingham on March 7.
Police said the dogs were reported to have started chasing the cattle, three of which ran into a brook where they subsequently drowned.
"Dog owners have a responsibility to ensure their dogs are under control when around livestock," a West Mercia Police spokesperson said.
"We ask that owners ensure that they know where their dogs are at all times, be confident that their dog's whereabouts are known at all times and that there are no livestock around. Unfortunately this incident involved people walking through a field with no right of way so please stick to signposted footpaths and bridle paths."
Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact police quoting incident 96 of March 8 2021.
