A WOMAN who suffers from cerebral palsy is hoping to fulfil her dream of walking down the wedding aisle in the summer.

Alaina Banfield, aged 29, of Ross-on-Wye, has the life-long condition following a difficult birth.

The condition effects her movement and co-ordination.

Despite this, Alaina has found a way to express herself through art using her head with a head pointer.

After studying surface pattern design at university she now sells her art through company Banfield Designs.

After already achieving so much, she has now set herself the goal of walking down the aisle when she marries fiancé Philip later this year.

“We have had the wedding cancelled two times already, but we hope it will take place in the summer sometime,” she said.

“The aim is to walk down the aisle at some point. I think I could do it now but I will keep practising and perfecting it.

“I do some walking every day, and have to thank Megan Baker House, who have helped me a lot with my walking.

“I have unbalanced legs which aren’t straight like others.

“As a child I could walk independently through primary school but at high school I wasn’t allowed to due to health and safety.

“After university I wanted to get back walking.”

The couple met online and Philip, who is fully able-bodied, was drawn to Alaina by her lovely smile.

They had a first date at Bristol Zoo, where they plan to return to be married when Government restrictions allow later this year.
