THE coronavirus testing site in Hereford has been forced to close early today (Tuesday), Herefordshire Council said.

The site has been in action since April when it was open up to six days a week, before more recently being open seven days a week.

But the council, which owns the Merton Meadow car park where the centre operates, said adverse weather has meant the site has had to close early, Herefordshire Council said.

Strong winds, with gusts of up to and in excess over 40mph, have been battering Herefordshire today, with that said to be the reason behind the closure.

Anyone with coronavirus symptoms, such as a dry, continuous cough or a loss or change in their sense of smell or taste, should visit the Government website.

There, tests can be booked at other centres, such as in Ross-on-Wye or Leominster, as well as in Hereford when the site reopens.
