A MAN has appeared in court after sending a slew of sexually explicit messages to a woman.

Philip Andrew Bames admitted the offence when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford.

The court heard the 49-year-old had pursued a course of conduct that amounted to harassment of a woman in Ross-on-Wye between August 16 and 18, sending her numerous sexually explicit text messages and voicemail messages.

Bames, of Morley Square, Ross, was handed a two-year community order and a five-year restraining order banning him from contacting or visiting his victim. He was fined £192 and must pay compensation of £50, costs of £135 and a £95 victim surcharge.
