A THREE-TIME drug driver was caught carrying imported controlled drugs, a court has heard.

Tyler Paul Broughton entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford November 20.

The court heard Broughton had been caught driving a Volkswagen Polo in Westfaling Street in Hereford on April 2.

An evidential blood test revealed he had 11 microgrammes of cannabis metabolite delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood. The legal limit is two.

The 25-year-old was again caught drug-driving on May 6, when he was stopped in Red Norman Rise.

Blood tests revealed he had 269 microgrammes of cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine, 4.9 microgrammes of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, and 638 microgrammes of Diazepam per litre of blood. The respective legal limits are 50, two, and 550.

Broughton was further stopped on May 17 at Eardisland, where police found him in possession of a quantity of cannabis and a quantity of un-prescribed foreign Diazepam.

Another blood test showed he had 6.1 microgrammes of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol per litre of blood.

Broughton, of Haldon Way, Hereford, was handed a 12 month community order and must complete 60 hours of unpaid work and a drug dependency programme.

He was also disqualified from driving for 15 months and must pay costs of £185 and a £95 victim surcharge.

The drugs were ordered to be forfeited and destroyed.
