DRUG driving has likely cost a farm labourer his job after he was banned from the road for 12 months.

Annan Brenainn Morley, 20, pleaded guilty to drug driving at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, November 25.

The defendant, of Pound Lane, Presteigne, was stopped by police in Howey on June 13 this year who suspected he had been smoking cannabis.

Prosecutor Stephen Davies said: “PC Halliday had cause to stop a Hinda Civic being driven by the defendant. A roadside drug swipe proved positive and he was arrested.”

He noted there were previous matters against the defendant – who was driving with 3.7 micrograms of cannabis per litre of blood – the legal limit being 2mcg.

Owain Jones, acting for Morley, said: “There were no aggravating factors.

“He is worried about the implications of a ban. He is a labourer, who works on a farm, his employers have sent a letter saying he is likely to be lose his job as a result.”

Magistrates disqualified Morley from driving for a year and ordered him to pay a £300 fine, £85 costs and a £34 surcharge.
