I work as a bank support worker in a small care establishment; it is excellently managed and we are a dedicated staff team; we carefully follow the advice and requirements to keep our unit safe and all well.
As a result, we are producing a gargantuan amount of bagged clinical waste, mostly one-use plastic PPE and similar.
I guess that this is replicated throughout social and health care settings, locally, nationally and globally.
The word ‘unprecedented’ is much over-used.
However, in this instance, I think it is justifiable.
The challenge of disposal must be formidable.
I hope that our already ravaged planet is not paying the price
