I am appalled at the heartlessness of our local MPs voting against the amendment to continue free meals to children who need them to be extended until Easter 2021.
The reasons quoted in your article from various Tory MPs are both heartless and spurious.
People as a rule do not turn to the state at the drop of a hat. Most do try and manage for themselves, working long hours for minimum wage.
Child Tax credits favour big business profits as much or even more than the families who need it to bring their pay up to a living wage whilst the government allowing said businesses and corporations to escape responsibility.

The current coronavirus pandemic has illustrated clearly who our essential workers are and to see them working so hard and still struggling to have enough food to sustain their families is obscene.
I think those MPs, our MPs, should hang their heads in shame.
