A WOMAN has been fined after she was arrested in a late-night row outside a Hereford pub.

Samantha Jane Preece, of Pomona Place, Hereford, admitted being drunk and disorderly when she appeared before magistrates in Hereford on October 7.

Her arrest had come after police were called to a public order incident in Hereford's Commercial Road at 11.40pm on August 30, prosecutor Ralph Robyns Landricombe told the court.

Attending officers found a large group of people had gathered outside the Merton Hotel.

Preece, who was arguing with two others, was taken to one side to try and calm the situation, but continued shouting, throwing her hands around, and refusing to tell police her name.

Magistrates heard Preece tried to walk off, but was arrested after attempting push and punch another person who was in her way.

Marilena Di Vitantonio, for Preece, said the 45-year-old had been arguing about an earlier incident when police arrived.

"This seems to be about a theft that had happened," Miss Di Vitantonio said.

"She was trying to find out where the item had gone. She does have a history, but has not been before the court for some time and accepts that she was drunk and disorderly."

Preece was fined £40 and must pay a £34 victim surcharge. No costs order was made due to a lack of means.
