Taking the top spot is the Malthouse Cafe in Church Lane, with 199 of 210 reviewers rating it excellent or very good.

"Fresh and tasty food, impressive cakes and great coffee," wrote Ziglet2014.

"We lunched here and were impressed with the fresh, tasty, interesting food and the amazing cakes on display. The vegetarian selections are all tempting and there are meat and fishy options too. Best cafe food I've had in ages, and the coffee and choc Guinness cake were seriously good too. Good arrangement for Covid safety are in place. We look forward to our next visit."

Hereford Times:

2. The Oak Inn

This Staplow pub takes second place, with 461 of 515 Tripadvisor users rating it excellent or very good.

"My wife and I came without knowing it was the steak night," wrote John H.

"A very expensive meal for us (as senior citizens) so we chose a shared starter (brilliant) and a shared pizza (brilliant), both of which were perfect. The staff were amazing. As a team, Jess, Zoya and Caroline could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout the evening. Brilliant. We came away with a warm glow full of praise for the staff. The safety precautions were exemplary and our space in the 'snug' was so cosy and comfortable. We hope to relocate to this area and if we do we will be happy to make the Oak our regular source of pleasure, though we will probably choose a different day since the steaks were so expensive."

Hereford Times:

3. Sitara

In third is this High Street restaurant, with 466 of 511 reviewers rating it excellent or very good.

"Fabulous food and service," wrote lizbrown2019

"We went Sunday night for a meal and the food and service were excellent. Portion sizes just about right and able to try local ale. As a small restaurant book ahead or pop in to book a table. Would highly recommend for a meal with friends or family."

Hereford Times:

4. Prince of Wales

Fourth is the Prince of Wales pub in Church Lane, with 341 of 387 visitors rating it excellent or very good.

"We were stopping in Ledbury and having visited this pub some 15 years ago we had to call again," wrote StaffordEd.

"It was like time had stood still. Still as quaint as ever. We called at lunchtime and was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome. In view of Covid 19 the menu had been changed, but this did not disappoint. Although mainly light bites they were well presented and very tasty. Will call here again on our next visit to Ledbury."

Hereford Times:

5. Verzon House

Coming in at fifth is Verzon House, just off the A438 Hereford Road, with 268 of 319 Tripadvisor users rating it excellent or very good.

"Wonderful lunches," wrote 3waltons.

"We were among the first to visit the restaurant after they reopened. We were very very impressed at the social distancing - the best we have come across. All staff were wearing masks, and there were small side tables where food was placed. The food, as in the past, is outstanding. We really can’t praise the welcoming staff and fabulous food too highly. We highly recommend a visit and we will certainly return."

Hereford Times:

6. The Royal Oak

Sixth is The Royal Oak in Much Marcle, with 267 of 305 rating it excellent or very good.

"Super place," wrote emseaell.

"Quality food, good portion size, good prices, very friendly owners and staff. If what you want isn’t on the menu, if they have it they will do it. Read the menu and mix and match, nothing too much trouble. Full social distancing applied. We visit weekly, I never stick to an exact menu, if you want something special pre-order and they will get it in. They go that extra mile. Massive car park, and dog friendly. Large function room."

Hereford Times:

7. The Olive Tree

"Top quality food," wrote Gemmareviews1606.

"I cannot fault the food, it was absolutely delicious. We came here to make the most of eat out help out. I had the lobster and crab ravioli with a side of cheesy garlic bread, I can highly recommend both these dishes as they were both divine. The service was timed well and the setting of outdoor seating is beautiful.!

We ordered sandwiches and a bowl of chips which were just what we needed for lunch and delivered to our table quickly. All round a good place for a pint and a bite with very friendly staff to serve us."
