A MAN was found covered in blood after police were called to a disturbance outside a Hereford hotel, a court has heard.

Kyle William Bernard James Leroy, of Winston Road, Hereford, admitted being drunk and disorderly when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford on October 7.

Prosecutor Ralph Robyns Landricombe said police were called to reports that a window had been smashed at the Merton Hotel on Commercial Road at 11.20pm on August 29.

They found Leroy covered in blood and shouting at others outside the hotel.

Officers said the 20-year-old became aggravated and aggressive when they arrived, moving forwards and gesturing at them, and he was put in handcuffs and arrested to stop the situation escalating.

Leroy was taken to hospital for treatment before being taken into custody.

Speaking on his own behalf, Leroy told the court he wanted to apologise for his behaviour.

"I know what I did was wrong," the self-employed labourer said.

"I have been to the doctor now to help me deal with things that I had been dealing with by using alcohol."

The court heard Leroy had recently lost his father and is now getting counselling to help him address his problems.

Leroy was fined £75 and ordered to pay costs of £135 and a £34 victim surcharge.
