HEREFORD Sixth Form College has been educating the students of Herefordshire, and even more from further afield since 1973 - if you're one of them, what memories do you have?

From actors to politicians, there have been several famous faces come from the college.

Years & Years singer Olly Alexander, a former Monmouthshire Comprehensive School student, studied AS French during 2006/07.

The band was formed in 2010 with their single King making it to number one in March 2015. Their debut album Communion also made number one in the UK album chart in July 2015.

Paralympic gold medallist Josie Pearson MBE is another notable alumni who studied at the Folly Lane college. She was a student between 2002 and 2005.

City sixth formers tops on pops

In May 1989, students from the college felt number one after they successfully captured the title of "Pop of the Form".

Warwick Murray, Daniel Macklin and Neil Watts, all aged 17, clinched the final of the Radio One chart-topping competition hosted by DJ Nike Read by just 10 points.

Their opponents, a team from Yale Sixth Form College, Wrexham, took an early lead, but the local boys fought back during the specialist and quick-fire rounds.

"We managed to cover a wide spectrum because of our varying interests in music," Warwick said at the time, who joined his friends friends following their previous success as pupils of Whitecross School in reaching the quarter finals the previous year.

"They needed a new team member and with my knowledge of 60s music I fitted the bill," he said.
