A MUSIC venue and bar in Hereford has set up a Crowdfunder page to help raise £10,000 in order for it to survive the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Babar Cafe on Union Street as reopened for drink and food but social distancing measures are still impacting the venue.

Their Crowdfunder page says: "Babar Cafe is part of a national initiative launched by Music Venue Trust to prevent the closure of hundreds of independent music venues.

"Our venue faces closure because social distancing is untenable due to our size. We have a capacity of 100 with space spread between four areas or rooms, which includes the garden. We are attempting a new venture for bookings for social bubble groups until social distancing rules give way and hope that this will go some way to keep us afloat.

"Your donations will be used to help us survive the next year, or however long it takes until people can mingle again and come and enjoy the full Babar experience.

"If we hit our target, and we can prevent the closure of our venue, everything above the amount we need will be donated to the Music Venue Trust GMV Crisis Fund to protect other venues just like ours, right across the country."
