THE number of confirmed coronavirus cases continues to rise as the latest official figures show another seven in Herefordshire.

 

It means 175 people had tested positive for coronavirus by 9am on Thursday morning, up from 168 at the same time on Wednesday.

Since last Wednesday (April 16) the number of confirmed cases has risen by more than 43% as eight days ago there were 122 cases.

The number of cases recorded across the midlands now stands at 16,663, a figure which rose by 570 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.

Across the UK, 138,078 people had tested positive for coronavirus as of 9am on Thursday, up from 133,495 at the same point on Wednesday, Department of Health and Social Care figures show.

In total, 425,821 people had been tested, and, as of 5pm on Wednesday, 18,738 had died.
