HEREFORD girls hockey players were keen to impress at the West of England tournament recently.

The under-15 girls side performed admirably winning two, drawing one and losing just one game.

Nine of the Herefordshire girls team currently attend Hereford Hockey Club’s Development Squad, three attend Leominster Junior Hockey and one of the girls currently plays for Newent.

The girls were playing and being watched by regional selectors, hoping to be asked to join next season's England Hockey Performance Centre.

Member of the squad Maddy Children is already training with Bristol Performance Centre despite being a year younger.

Based on their performances coaches hope that several of the team will get the opportunity to go to the assessment day in June.
