A MAN has been banned from almost every shop in Hereford after admitting multiple thefts.

Jonathan Richard Harrison, 36, of no fixed address, was handed a 26 week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster on March 4.

He also received a two-year criminal behaviour order prohibiting him from entering all retail premises in Hereford except Aldi, Lloyds, and Sports Direct.

The court heard the items Harrison had stolen in 12 separate incidents between November and March included several bottles of vodka and whiskey, Estee Lauder perfume and champagne.

Harrison was ordered to pay total compensation of £247 to Tesco, £444.50 to Co-op, £99 to Boots, £80 to Waitrose. He must also pay a £122 victim surcharge.

No costs order was made due to Harrison's limited means.

A police spokesperson said Harrison is being managed by the Hereford police integrated offender management team to prevent his offending and divert him from criminal activity.

Constable Fiona Morgan said: "Jonathan Harrison is a prolific offender who leads a chaotic lifestyle.

"The role of the integrated offender management team is to work with prolific offenders and partners so we can all provide support and diversion for identified individuals whose behaviour is directly impacting on others.

"Harrison's behaviour has caused alarm, distress and harassment to others and the overall cost of his criminal conduct has a big impact on businesses.

"This suspended prison sentence and order should be viewed as a wake-up call to him to take the help on offer and stop committing crime".

Any breaches of the order should be report to police by calling 101, or online on the West Mercia Police website.
