LEOMINSTER Rotary club promotes an annual Young Writers award as the local round of a national Rotary programme. 34 candidates from Bredenbury, Luston, Wellington and Weobley Junior Schools took part this year.

On Friday, January 24, Geoffrey Crofts, President of Leominster Rotary Club, presented the local Rotary Young Writers winner award (book token and certificate), to Weobley Junior school pupils, Rory Messer, and the runner up award to Hollie Peruffo at the school's Golden Assembly.

Rory's entry was also forwarded to the District level (Bristol and Avon, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire), where the judges said that his story was well written and innovative. Rory was again placed first.

His entry now goes forward to the National Final of the Young Writer Award.
