Paul Spicer's English Choral Experience returns to Dore Abbey next week.

The annual festival, which has grown from a week of choral workshops, returns to the abbey for a 13th year. Music lovers are invited to attend the programme of concerts, or just pop in during the day to listen in on a rehearsal whilst browsing the wonderful range of arts and crafts on display.

There are evening events on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, culminating in the main concert on Saturday, July 27. For the Tuesday and Thursday concerts, the CE Consort will sing the service of Compline in the abbey's quire.

On Friday, July 26 the concert at 9pm, given by ECE scholars, will feature works by Aaron Copland, Leonard Berstein, Ernest Bloch and Ya'akov Sagi. The programme for the final concert on Saturday at 7pm includes works by William Byrd, Eric Whitacre, Benjamin Britten, Vaughan Williams and George Dyson.

The Consort will also sing Eucharist at Dore Abbey on Sunday, July 28 at 10am.

Alongside the Choral Experience there will be an exhibition featuring artwork by Julienne Braham (this year's artist in residence), Kate Kato's paper sculpture (amazing!), Jason Braham's pots, jewellery by Deborah King, felting by Pearl Taylor felt, Abigail Bury's textiles and paintings by Brontë Woodruff. Exhibition opens on Monday July 22. Open daily, 9.30am to 6pm.
