ST John Ambulance Cadets in Hereford have welcomed three new volunteers to support them.

The city's Holy Trinity Cadet Unit provides fun activities and life skills, including first aid training for 10 to 18-year-olds.

And the successful team – which is home to the health charity's Cadet of the Year for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, Kaitlin Jones (15) – now has two extra youth support leaders and a youth helper.

Former Cadet, Shannon Webb has stayed on beyond her 18th birthday and completed courses to become a leader, including a qualification to be able to take young people out on residential trips.

She is joined by Lou Jebb, whose son Lucas is a former Cadet. Together, they are organising new training courses for Hereford's Cadets.

Meanwhile, another Cadet's mum – Sarah Smith – is helping in a support role.

A group of young people from Hereford, led by unit manager Gill Worthing, travelled to London to support Kaitlin in her role as part of the Guard of Honour on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral in London, during St John's Day celebrations, on June 22.

The event included a service in the cathedral and family-friendly activities in nearby Paternoster Square.
