THE Courtyard has pledged its support for military personnel and families by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Hereford theatre became the 46th organisation in the county to pledge its support and signed the Covenant on June 24, during Armed Forces Week.

Courtyard Chief Executive Ian Archer was joined by Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, The Dowager Countess of Darnley, and Ministry of Defence representatives from three military services, Rear Admiral Philip Wilcocks CB DSC DL, Air Vice Marshall Mike Smart OBE and Colonel Any Taylor OBE DL.

“I am delighted and proud to be signing the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of The Courtyard and to pledge our on-going support to our Armed Forces,” Mr Archer said.

“We all very much appreciate the work our Armed Forces do through times of conflict and peace and our signing of The Covenant helps us to recognise that.”

Herefordshire’s Centre for the Arts offers concessions, where possible, for military personnel, veterans and their families and programmed two special screenings to celebrate Armed Forces Week.

George Butterworth: All My Life’s Buried Here and Peter Jackson’s They Shall Not Grow Old were shown, preceded by talks from Professor Mark Webber and Professor Gary Sheffield who discussed current issues in NATO and the role of British Army Officers in the two world wars.
