HEREFORD Lions Club are helping to support two groups who support both young and adult carers who no longer receive public funding.
The young carers are mostly schoolchildren looking after a family member with health problems. The long established service aims to help the youngsters enjoy a normal social life by organising activities and holidays.
Hereford Lions Club organised a bag-packing event at Belmont Tesco raising £750 to be shared between the two carers groups. Carers helped with the bag packing and the club mascot, Lennie the Lion entertained shoppers.
Club member Sian Bayliss said: "Tesco shoppers were very generous putting donations in the bucket and buying raffle tickets to win a large Lion soft toy.
"We were overwhelmed by such a large sum being raised."
