FOR the first time, women, men and children joined the Hereford Race for Life today.
More than 1,000 people took part in the 5k and 10k runs, raising thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
The event was held at 11am at Hereford Leisure Centre in Holmer Road.
Kimberley Degville, Cancer Research UK’s Hereford event manager, said: “Our Race for Life events have been women-only since they started, over 25 years ago.
"But we now feel the time is right to open them up so that everyone – women, men and children – has the chance to participate together."
It was certainly an invitation that was taken up, with people of all ages and genders enjoying a terrific feel-good occasion, despite the overcast weather.

So today a few of the Katherine Harriet Team ran the Hereford Race for Life, in memory of some truly amazing people. Although the weather wasn’t that kind to us, it didn’t matter as a huge amount of money was raised for Cancer Research with a fantastic and positive atmosphere. pic.twitter.com/YSW8Jh2nOn
