DEMENTIA action was the priority in Leominster last week.
A programme of events took place across the town to mark Dementia Action Week (May 20 to 26), with highlights including the launch of the Dementia Friendly Leominster map at an event held at Grange Court.
More than 30 people from the community, including carers, people living with dementia, town councillors and local businesses attended the awareness raising event, where they were welcomed by Dementia Friendly Leominster Chair, Cheryl Poole.
Clinical occupational therapist Emma Crawshaw delivered an informative talk on dementia friendly environments, and the Dementia Friendly Leominster map, designed by Carol and Tony Ferguson, was launched.
The group aims to encourage local businesses and organisations to sign up to Dementia Friendly Leominster, pledging an action they will take to improve their offering to people living with dementia.
This could be in the form of improved signage, or by learning more about dementia.
Participating businesses will be added to the map, which will be on display in locations around Leominster. Copies will be available from the Tourist Information Centre.
